Plans - Monkey Rocker

Standard chair plans use 90-degree angles. Monkey rocker plans use compound curves. The relationship between the seat angle, the backrest recline, and the radius of the rocker must be mathematically perfect. If the rocker radius is too shallow, the chair will tip forward. If it is too deep, you will get stuck in the reclined position.

Designed to safely support up to 60 lbs (27 kg).

Pre-drilling avoids splitting the plywood plies, while routing removes sharp edges that could injure a child.

Remnants of the 3/4" plywood or a 1" x 8" hardwood board (cut to length)

Most store-bought rockers are made of hollow plastic or lightweight composite woods. By using DIY plans, you can ensure:

Trace two identical side panels and two identical rocker rails using a sharp pencil.

1-5/8 inch pocket hole screws or 2-inch countersunk wood screws.

In this comprehensive guide, we will cover everything you need to know about monkey rocker plans: what they are, why you need them, where to find them, and how to execute a successful build.
